As reported in the New England Journal of Medicine a study conducted by Daniel Rudman, M.D. in 1990 at The Medical College of Wisconsin on the effects of the Human Growth Hormone. He injected a small dose of this Growth Hormone in men ages 61-81 years of age and in 6 months the results showed an increase of 8.8% in lean body mass, a decrease in body fat of 14.4%, and an increase in bone density in the lumbar spinal bones and the skin thickness by 7.1%.
These were amazing results but you may still be asking what is it?? Human Growth Hormone is an anabolic hormone which is produced in the pituitary gland and it is released in intervals throughout the day. This hormone provides growth, repairs tissues, shifts the metabolism, and mobilizes fat stores. It is used by doctors as a treatment for burn patients who have suffered from tissue injuries. It also causes dwarfism in children that are deficient in it.
We all have this growth hormone; however teenagers seem to have more of sensitivity to the factors that stimulate the release of it such as:
Carb restricted dietsDeep sleepExerciseIncrease protein in the dietDecreased blood glucose levelsHold on though, if you're beyond your adolescent years don't give up yet, there is still hope for you. By increasing these stimulants your body will release more Growth Hormone. It seems that one factor is just getting enough zzz's; this will allow the release of more growth hormone. Studies have shown that it is released during deep sleep cycles. Also, resistance training stimulates the release. As you challenge your body with extra resistance or weights it causes small microscopic tears in the muscle tissues, these tears send a signal to produce growth hormone to the injured site for repair.
The third factor in the fountain of youth is by keeping your weight under control. Obesity increases the blood glucose and free fatty acid levels which inhibit the release of the hormone. So if you want to keep your money in your pocket, have better health, and keep that youthful glow, then simply get enough deep sleep every night, lift weights, and eat right to keep your weight in the healthy range and you can literally be the picture of health and you won't even have to use a needle. A little less stress would also be a benefit.
