Take Care When You Exercise After a Cesarean Section

Posted by viona diana On - - 0 comments

There are some common mistakes that women usually make after a C section.

Some moms, in their haste to get back in shape, register to fitness classes and sessions even before the delivery has taken place. This enthusiasm is plausible but they need to be careful about their decision of exercising after a C section.

The cesarean surgery, being so major, has its complexity. The abdominal muscles are cut length wise and then stitched together which makes the tissues and muscles very tender and weak. They become prone to inflammatory problems and infections. Carelessness about it can invite great trouble.

Even the slightest strain or pressure on these muscles, which is usually through exercise, can break the stitches and slow down the healing process. If it happens, along with slow healing, undesirable marks and scars can appear on the stitched area, which otherwise a new skin would have taken over.

Full fledge workouts are totally unimaginable because one can get serious spinal problems by damaging the back. In the case of complex pregnancy, there should be more precautions and time. The condition is not to be neglected. The body takes its time to recover and therefore it is unwise to rush into exercise after C section.

Getting an approval from your doctor is important before exercising. You can ask him about the healing time period and harmless ways you can adopt to lose weight. Once the doctor is satisfied, exercising is safe.

At the initial stage, you can start with lighter exercises. Frequent breaks are important so that the muscles are not stressed out. The most recommend exercises are walking and yoga because they do not cause any side injuries and gradually work out the muscles.

There is a myth that entails that no exercise at all is needed after a C section because the body will recover on its own. It is not factual at all, in fact if you unnecessarily delay exercise, getting back into shape becomes very difficult.

Another myth is that women gain weight after delivery, if they do not work out or participate in physical activities. This one is totally misleading as well. You should not consider it at all, if you want to stay healthy. For faster and better healing, the body needs nutrients and supplements. If you exercise extensively, these nutrients are used up and the healing process is disturbed. You can not afford to be picky about what you eat. You need to eat healthy so that the body recovers and is prevented from infections and diseases.

Heavy exercise after C section is wholly unthinkable, at this stage, because cases of fatigue, stress, emotional distress and weakness have been reported by the doctors.

The best way to fully recover and get back your health is through the natural way. It is, no doubt, a time consuming process but it gives the best results. It successfully reinstates the energy levels and the emotional stability.

Most women come through pregnancy and birth uneventfully. Occasionally, however, there are complications. Pregnancy week by week discusses many of these problems. Some are concerns such as morning sickness, heartburn, and backache that make you uncomfortable but generally do not threaten your or your developing baby's health.
